A connector design allowing to readout physical variables over distances of several circumferences of printed foils from one side of the printed foil
Sensor foils printed in a roll-to-roll fashion often suffer from the limitation that the total length of the sensor foil over which physical variables can be read-out do not exceed one circumference of the printing cylinder, typically below 122 cm (48”). The connector by InnovationLab is used to read-out simultaneously pressure and temperature values up to 4 m away from the readout electronics using one single printed sheet and one readout electronics. It is an electronic device for use in a sensor system that can be applied to surfaces of almost arbitrary size and geometry while reducing the wiring to connect the sensors to a readout device or a processor.
Purpose
- To monitor physical variable such as pressure, temperature, moisture, etc on industrially relevant large scale (1-20 m) using a minimum number of readout electronics
- Allows a much lower number of connecting wires necessary to read-out the data from the printed sensors covering large areas, compared to existing solutions
Target Group
- Smart Buildings
- Logistic
- Aviation
- Energy
Benefits
- Lower number of connecting wires necessary to read-out the data from the printed sensors
- These very long matrices allow covering unprecedented large surfaces with printed sensors
- Print sensors and sensor matrix with a form factor much over 1:2
Printed Electronics Components
- Conductive paths
- Printed interconnection
- Printed sensor
