Ton van Mol graduated with honors from Eindhoven University of Technology in Chemical Technology in 1997. He received his PhD also at the University of Technology Eindhoven in the group of Prof. Jaap Schouten in the area of chemical vapour deposition of tin oxide thin films in 2001. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories (Livermore) as visiting scientist and joined TNO in 2003 as senior scientist in the area of flexible solar cells. In 2005, Ton helped set-up Holst Centre, the open innovation initiative between IMEC and TNO, where he first was responsible for the programs on OLED lighting and thin film barriers. After a subsequent role as business development manager, Ton took up the role as Managing Director in 2013.
