Purpose of this demonstrator is to show possibilities of printed electronics when combining conductive inks, paper substrate, LED components and adhesive.
By using simple paper bending it is possible to generate simple but nice looking origami lumnare elements with minimum amount of material consumed. Key features of the LED origami is lighting element which consist of several LED modules which are combined together and which can be formed to either planar or bend half-cylinder form. By making lighting elements on origami patterns and assembling them by the end user in IKEA-style it is possible to reduce the volume of the modules significantly which reduced also delivery costs of the structure.
Functionality
Demonstrator has a switch. When you turn it on, demonstrator turns on and illuminates light around. User can select to use the luminare in a planar or half-cylinder form.
Benefits of the project
Motivation to make Origami Luminare is to use more sustainable materials for ligting elements. Advantages come from the material usage as well as delivery costs.
