Prof. Hast received M.Sc. (Tech.) and D. Sc. (Tech.) degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Oulu, Finland in 1999 and 2003 respectively. Currently he holds the position of Research Manager in Sensing Solutions research area at VTT. Prof. Hast is responsible for self – and jointly funded research project portfolio which covers wide range of electronics hardware including optoelectronics measurement techniques, flexible printed, and hybrid electronics as well as biosensors, human sensing solutions and health data analytics.
As VTT representative Prof. Hast has actively contributed to OE-A activities and previously LOPEC conferences as publication chair, short course chair, member of demonstrator jury board etc. He is also working with several stakeholder networks: Photonics21, European Energy Research Alliance (EERA), Heterogeneous Technology Alliance (HTA), and International research network of Micro and Nano Systems (NAMIS). Through VTT Prof. Hast is contributing to EUREKA network clusters Xces as well as Chips JU SRIA to support Electronic Components & Systems (ECS) value chain.
