OE-A at IEEE International Flexible Electronics Technology Conference
The International Flexible Electronics Technology Conference (IFETC) took place from August 8-11, 2021, online as a virtual conference. OE-A was partner of IEEE IFETC and organizer of two short courses on flexible and printed electronics.
From August 8 - 11, 2021, IFETC took place as an online conference. This year OE-A represented the flexible and printed electronics industry by organizing two virtual short courses at IFETC on August 8th: ‘Materials, Processes and Devices’ and ‘Automotive Applications’. International speakers gave in-depth insights into recent developments and technologies.
OE-A short course I ‘Materials, Processes and Devices’
The key elements of printed electronics are conductive, semi-conductive or dielectric inks and pastes, which can – with a variety of techniques – be economically printed on large area substrates. In this context, the novel approach of manufacturing as well as the utilized techniques allow for a direct integration into low cost reel-to-reel processes. The organic and printed electronics technology enables a multitude of electronic components – from transistors, circuits and sensors to displays, light sources, solar cells and touch surfaces. In this short course renown experts in the field of organic, printed and flexible electronics talk about the fundamentals of this technology – from materials and processes to devices.

OE-A short course II ‘Automotive Applications’
This short course covered printed electronics applications in the automotive sector, an industry that is changing drastically, driven by the transition to autonomous and electric vehicles. Printed electronics perfectly meet the related challenges by allowing e.g. the seamless integration of sensors and flexible displays for smart human-machine interfaces or printed heating concepts for electric vehicles. Renown industry experts will talk about the increasingly important role of printed electronics in the automotive sector, presenting the latest developments and applications of this key enabling technology in the field.

IFETC, started in Ottawa, Canada (2018) is a new EDS-lead international conference, focusing upon printed and flexible hybrid and non-hybrid materials, devices and systems. It will rotate between the Americas, Asia and Europe, heading to Shanghai PRC in 2022. IFETC aims to bring together a wide variety of stakeholders, from chemists, materials scientists, physicists, to mechanical and electrical engineers, the fabrication and manufacturing communities, as well as end-users, e.g. packaging and medical communities.
