OLED & Flexible Displays
Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are full area and homogenous light, that can be flexible, based on the production process.
Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are full area and homogenous light, that can be flexible, based on the production process. An OLED consists of two electrodes (one of them transparent) and anywhere between two and multiple organic layers with different functions such as hole or electron transport, light absorption or light emission. Holes and electrons are injected from the opposite electrodes and recombine inside the device to emit light.
OLED lighting products promise novel features: Large area, diffuse light emission, flexible and very thin form factors, high efficacy and variable color are just some of the possibilities. They can be applied as lighting or as individual pixels in displays.
Implementation Examples
OLED Taillight
OLED taillights emit a very homogeneous and precise light, while the modules are very thin and flexible. Thus, they provide a very efficient and lightweight light source.
Organic Lighting
OLED lamps offer superior lighting efficiency and homogeneity over traditional light sources. Since the modules can be flexible, freedom of design is ensured.
Head-up Display
Transparent OLED displays enable the integration of head-up displays directly into car windows. This helps to provide more information to the driver, without traffic distraction.
Rollable OLED TV
Rollable and foldable OLED displays have become available in both TVs and smartphones, enabling space-saving devices, that readily adapt to the user’s needs.
