OE-A Board of Directors
The OE-A Board of Directors consists out of competent industry and institute representatives who determine the association’s direction: the tasks, strategies and activities of the OE-A.
The Board is elected by the General Assembly every two years. The board members elect the Chairman and the Vice Chairmen. Our association deals with a variety of topics and has members from all over the world. The board and its competence reflect the member structure and regional origin.
Stan Farnsworth – Chairman
Chief Marketing Officer, NovaCentrix, United States of America
Stan Farnsworth is Chief Marketing Officer at NovaCentrix and has been with the company since its inception in 1999. He is responsible for global sales as well as strategic and tactical marketing for all NovaCentrix products, including the company's PulseForge photonic curing tools and Metalon conductive inks. He has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering from Rice University and a master's degree in heat transfer and fluid mechanics from the University of Texas in Austin. Stan Farnsworth joined the OE-A Board of Directors in 2013, currently serving as Vice Chair North America.
Dr. Xiaolin Yan – Vice Chairman Asia
Chairman of the board of Directors, Guangdong JUHUA Printed Display Technology Co.Ltd, China
Dr. Xiaolin Yan joined TCL Corporation in 2001. Presently, he is the CTO & Senior Vice President of TCL Corporation Ltd. and the president of TCL Corporate Research as well as Chairman of the board of Directors of Guandong JUHUA Printed Display Technology Co.Ltd. Currently Dr. Yan is serving as Executive VP of SID Asia and Chairman of IEC TC 110. Dr. Yan was received the honor of the “Corporation Creative person of China”, “The Outstanding Contribution Expert on Chinese TV technology” and other honorary title of China. In 2015 he joined the OE-A board as Vice Chairman Asia.
Dr. Alain Schumacher – Vice Chairman Europe
CTO, General Management, IEE, Luxemburg
Alain has a PhD in Physics with a strong background in the field of thin film physics and technologies from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. With more than 18 years of experience in the automotive industry, Alain Schumacher recently accepted the position as a Chief Technology Officer at IEE. In this role, some of Alain’s many tasks include developing the company's strategy for using technological resources and evaluating and implementing new systems and infrastructure.
Richard Ellinger – Vice Chairman North America
Vice President, Sales and Marketing, American Semiconductor, United States of America
Richard Ellinger is responsible for global sales and marketing activities of ASI and their products and services including FleX Semiconductor-on-Polymer Chip Scale Packaging, which enables flexible hybrid electronics to include robust and reliable high-performance ICs. In 2018, Rich worked to create the flexible hybrid technology demonstrator effort that resulted in the flexible NFC wristband for LOPEC 2018. Previously, Richard held VP Operations/COO management roles at Emerson/PakSense.
Dr. Georg Bernatz – Board Member
Senior Director, Product Research OLED Physics, Merck, Germany
In 2004, Georg Bernatz joined Merck. The major time he spent in R&D, apart from 2007 – 2011, when he was Head of Technical Marketing for Liquid Crystals. He became senior director in 2014, heading the Physics research department in charge of the development of new Liquid Crystals. In 2018, Georg changed to the other big display technology Merck is developing and selling materials for: OLED. He is heading the OLED Physics research department developing materials for both vapor-processed OLEDs as well as Ink Jet Printed OLEDs.
Dr. Jérôme Gavillet – Board Member
EU Program Manager, CEA Liten, France
Jérôme Gavillet joined CEA-Liten in 2005 as a project manager for Renewable Energy and Nanomaterials. Since 2012, he works as a European program manager for CEA-Liten’s EU projects portfolio and is setting up business opportunities in the fields of materials, renewable energy, energy storage and efficiency, ICT, with a focus on Organic & Printed Electronics. He is currently coordinating the ‘SmartEEs’ Digital Innovation Hub to promote the adoption and transformation of Organic & Printed Electronics into business visions & concrete market cases. He is Technical Session Chair of the LOPEC conference.
Prof. Jukka Hast – Board Member
Research Manager, Adjunct Professor Sensing and Integration Research Area, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, Finland
Prof. Hast received M.Sc. (Tech.) and D. Sc. (Tech.) degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Oulu, Finland in 1999 and 2003 respectively. Currently he holds the position of Research Manager of Sensing and Integration research area at VTT. Prof. Hast is responsible for self - and jointly funded research project portfolio which covers wide range of electronics hardware including nano- and microelectronics, sensors and circuits, photonics measurement techniques, flexible printed, and hybrid electronics as well as biosensors. As VTT representative Prof. Hast has actively contributed to OE-A activities and LOPEC conferences as publication chair, short course chair, member of demonstrator jury board etc. He is also working with several stakeholder networks.
Prof. Toshihide Kamata – Board Member
Director, Flexible Electronics Research Center at National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Japan
Prof. Toshihide Kamata joined AIST in 1992 and is Director of the Flexible Electronics Research Center of AIST since 2011. He also joined JAPERA and is currently CTO of JAPERA. His research interests have been in the flexible & printed electronics and display sensor technologies. He is managing a research program concerning the development of flexible-printed devices for displays, tags and sensors. Prof. Kamata joined the OE-A Board in 2013 and served as Vice Chairman Asia from 2013 to 2017.
Thomas Kolbusch – Board Member
Vice President, Coatema Coating Machinery, Germany
Thomas Kolbusch is working for Coatema Coating Machinery GmbH since 1999, as vice president responsible for sales, marketing, R&D and business development. He is part of the OE-A Board since 2009 and Chair of the advisory board of the OPE Journal which is focused on the markets of printed electronics. From 2010 to 2016 he served as Chairman of the LOPEC exhibition.
Dr. Ton van Mol – Board Member
Managing Director, Holst Centre / TNO, Netherlands
Ton van Mol graduated with honors from Eindhoven University of Technology in Chemical Technology in 1997. He received his PhD also at the University of Technology Eindhoven in the group of Prof. Jaap Schouten in the area of chemical vapour deposition of tin oxide thin films in 2001. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories (Livermore) as visiting scientist and joined TNO in 2003 as senior scientist in the area of flexible solar cells. In 2005, Ton helped set-up Holst Centre, the open innovation initiative between IMEC and TNO, where he first was responsible for the programs on OLED lighting and thin film barriers. After a subsequent role as business development manager, Ton took up the role as Managing Director in 2013.
Chuck Milligan – Board Member
Chief Executive Officer, FlexEnable, Great Britain
Chuck Milligan is CEO of FlexEnable, the leader in the development and industrialization of OTFT-based organic electronics for flexible displays and sensors. Chuck has over 25 years’ commercial and general management experience across the globe in the semiconductor, consumer electronics, communications, industrial and aerospace markets.
Prior to FlexEnable, Chuck was CEO of EM Test, a Swiss EMC test equipment company which was acquired by AMETEK. Before this, he was CEO of Heptagon, a Swiss micro-optics company. He has also served as VP of Industrial/Aerospace at Bookham, Commercial Director for JDS Uniphase/Nortel’s GaAs telecom pump laser diode business and Director of Sales for Harris Corporation, for whom he established a Europe/Africa Sales Office for RF Communications Systems in Switzerland. Chuck also served overseas as an officer in the US Army.
Dr. Guido van Tartwijk - Board Member
Chief Executive Officer, Heliatek, Germany
Having a PhD in Theoretical Physics, Guido van Tartwijk recently took over the position as CEO of Heliatek, a leading innovator in OPV thin films, born out of the Universities of Dresden and Ulm. Prior to this, Guido was CEO of Triodonic , a globally leading LED Lighting Electronics & Controls manufacturer. He also had various leading and executive roles in Philips Lighting, based in Shanghai from 2005. He furthermore had various roles at high-tech (start-up) companies (JDS Uniphase, GenOA, Three-Five Photonics, Genexis) in the hardware telecommunications industry, all building on semiconductore (GaAs, Inp) based innovations to make the Internet’s ever increase in speed possible.
Corinne Versini - Board Member
Corporate Chief Executive Officer, Genes' Ink, France
Corinne Versini is founder and CEO of Genes’Ink, a company specialized in conception, development and manufacture of nanoparticles and/or hybrid nanocomposite in solution for active inks. Her previous positions included founder and manager of CVD, a consulting company in business strategy for sustainable development; Informatic Purchasing Director of ST Microélectronique; Manager of technical support center for the “Top” European clients of IBM France; as well as Project Leader at Rhone Poulenc and KPMG. Corrinne has various international experience and is furthermore involved in many associations, such as board member of Comité Richelieu and Pacte PME, Medinsoft and President of finance commission. In addition she is part of the LOPEC Strategic Advisory Board.
