2-HORISONS: Process Design Kit for Organic IC‘s in Sensing Applications

InnovationLab GmbH and BASF (Germany)The breakthrough of printed and organic electronics will go along with adequate process design kits (PDKs) on basis of standardized processing. We demonstrate a printed flexible pressure sensor matrix with an organic active matrix backplane addressed by organic binary decoders and an analog multiplexer. The entire circuitry is designed with our powerful organic PDK (OPDK). The convincing performance of the flexible organic sensor matrix shows that a substantial step towards the next technological milestone is done employing an OPDK. The organic demonstrator consists of a 16×16 pressure sensor matrix in which individual sensels can be addressed by a binary input and the selected sensor signal is delivered by one analog output channel. The entire organic circuit is realized using our organic process design kit (OPDK) with full front-to-back design flow delivering the production files on basis of our standard technology for p-type organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), printed contact lines and printed pressure sensors.
